Hi guys, Alex of XCAR's vids here. Signed up to join the fun, say hi and also thanks for watching what we do (some people even said nice stuff about it, too - double thanks for you).
Also - Thursday was pretty sweet, all told. I got to drive a Jag C-X75. Well, two of them. Vid'll be up soon, but if you've any questions or owt - do ask.
I'm still new to it here, so be gentle with me (for a suitable length of time, then give me both barrels).

Whoa, hi! Thanks for doing a Supra video, I requested that lol. I can't wait to see the C-X75! Great to have you aboard.

S'nice to be here!
Glad you like the Supra vid. It was fun to do AND is disturbed an entire Welsh village. I'll call that a result.

Haha, definitely. I love XCAR. Oppo is a great place to share stuff and discuss just about anything. Here are some
tips/tools
you may find helpful. The layout is bad, yes; it caused quite an uproar when they updated it a while back. When you read negative stuff about the dreaded "Kinja," that's what people are talking about. This is what you need to know about Kinja:

Pretty much the most important unwritten rules about posting and getting attention for posts are tagging them and including pictures (referred to as SR20s in the handbook stuff). Hope the site finds you well!

Hi Alex, it's nice to meet you, I'm Alex. Welcome to oppo!

Hi Alex! Your name is awesome. I think I'm going to like it here...

Is it true that there are versions of the C-X75 with a roll cage and without?
Oh and welcome to oppo.

Welcome! I love your videos though I did criticize you in a recent post I wrote up. Sort of. Look, I'm jealous because you're still a "skinny guy," but you'll get old someday! I do like the energy in your videos and the production values are top notch. I have actually grown tired of Magnus Walker's story because it's been overhyped. However, your video was a new twist. Oddly, I found the titles fantastic. They just caught my eye.

Hi! Yes, it is true. Prototype five (all blue, tan interior) is as close to done as a stage one prototype can be, apparently. There's no cage, lots of leather and some very slinky carbon fibre in there.
Prototypes three and four (pictured) (the ones I drove) weren't quite as shiny. As they were used for high speed testing/demos there was a cage in each. Also - no traction control.

Dude, each to their own - you can't please everyone all the time. You're right though - I will get old some day (I hope to, anyway).
I'm really glad you like what we do. I won't lie - it can be punishing hours-wise, but it's all worth it when all our work comes together and people like what we've done.
I'll let our producer know what you said about the titles, I know he spent a while getting them in fine fettle!

What do you film with? I'd love to see some auto videos shot with a RED Epic.

We've a number of cameras, really (I'm not a camera guy so can't really tell you much about all of them). We have used a Red before - on our Ford GT vid, Rage Buggy, Radical RXC and BMW Roadsters piece, as well as a few others which haven't seen the light of day.

Hi there Alex From XCAR Vids. Welcome to Oppo! It's good-weird.
I'm going to wait until I've seen the video before asking about the C-X75(s), but it must've been incredible and I'm very jealous!

I'll go back and re-watch them. I've used a RED Epic on a telescope and shot the International Space Station. I know the Founder of RED and he's pretty wild. He owns what I think is a South African Armored Personnel Vehicle of some sort. He'd be interesting to interview and film, with RED cameras of course:

Thanks man!
Yeah, it was awesome. The noise is unbelievable.

His cameras are awesome. As is, it seems, his car collection. May be worth a shout to chat with him. Thanks!

Alex, have to I thank both you and Chris Harris for converting hordes of new car lovers with every video. You are the great evangelists of our crazy little hobby. Better than Clarkson.
It's interesting that the C-X75 is appearing in another round of publications (I just saw it in a Canadian website). Jag's being pretty coy about this whole project, eh?
Not that I mind, your XKR-S and F-Type reviews were the bees knees.

Thanks man! High praise indeed!
C-X75 is doing the rounds again - every now and then I think Jaguar will unleash them again for new people to tell the car's story. No bad thing, it's one hell of a tale. Shame it (sort of) ends with those five cars...

Haha, anytime!
I feel Jaguar wouldn't be disappointed if they could fill a production comparable to the XJR-15 (50 orders).
People say the certification/production costs (crash testing, etc.) would be prohibitive, but Horacio Pagani breaks even on his similarly-priced cars. And it's already fully developed.
Why not?

Welcome to the madhouse that is OPPO, Alex.
Big fan of your work - will be fun to have you in the neighborhood, and interesting to hear your take on things.
Keep the great vids coming!

Thanks man! I'm always open to questions and I'll do my best to comment. I've only one computer with Kinja access, so I'll do my best to wax lyrical as and when I can!
![]() 11/05/2013 at 17:45 |

I think the big difference is that Pagani's cars are made to order, and they're so special, so coveted, that demand is high enough to keep the company going. For Jaguar, getting everything spot on in the car, making it ready for a wider audience, would be a big gamble. Can Jag sell 250 of them? That's what the plan was... Top brass didn't think so. Especially considering Porsche is apparently struggling to shift 918 of its shiny new Spyders.

Looking forward to it.

According to Wikipedia, Pagani only sold 209 Zondas between 1999 and 2009. I'd say 250 C-X75s was a tough order in any case (I could easily see 50 though).
But the tough question is whether the Jag is as special as the Pagani? I look forward to your video!
![]() 11/06/2013 at 10:54 |

The Jag was certainly very special. Whether it's more special than one of Mr Pagani's cars... that remains to be seen.

Welcome to Oppo! I am a big fan of your videos and I look forward to them every week. XCAR has become a part of my regular youtube routine along the likes of Drive, Evo, Petrolicious, FLD, and MCM.
I am a particular fan of the videos in which you highlight the lineage of a specific model like the Ford GT and BMW roadster. Any plans for similar videos in the future? I would love to see one on the Range Rover/Land Rover or Mercedes SL. The options are endless.
Keep up the good work!
![]() 11/27/2013 at 13:13 |

Hiya!
We did one on the SL, though we didn't have access to the cars so it's largely stock footage - It's our SL350 film. The latest Range Rover Hybrid vid has a bit of lineage in it, but it's something we're working on. We do have some more planned...
Thanks for being nice about what we do! You'd be amazed how many aren't for the sake of it...

Thanks for the reply. It is pretty alarming what some people are willing to post on youtube but I think your Top Comment videos are a fitting response.

I really need to write another one of those, I just keep running out of time!
